Much of our modern technology involves electrical energy, but also a control system that turns it on and off at the right time. Printers and TVs put splashes of color at the right place; refrigerators and furnaces turn on the chiller or the heater automatically in response to the temperature.

In this chapter we will study devices that process information and some of the methods of doing so.
